On this page you will find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. We hope you will find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us if you need additional information.
Dress comfortably! We are a fairly casual studio so wear clothing that you will feel comfortable dancing in. Please keep in mind that we tend to keep our studios a little on the cool side. Shoes: Wear comfortable shoes with a slick sole if possible. Avoid high heels when you are first learning to dance.
Unless you are an experienced dancer, we always recommend having at least a private lesson or two when you are first starting out. This is not mandatory but we have found over the years the percentage of success has a strong correlation with the number of private lessons.
No partner is necessary for any of our classes or lessons. We rotate partners during our group classes and for private lessons and competitive training, we have both male and female instructors available to assist you.
No but it is helpful to avoid the rush! We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the class.
After our grand opening specials are over, we sell punch cards for our group classes. One punch on the card equals one class. Your first class is only $5. After that group classes are sold in packages of 4 for $50 or 10 for $100.
Punch cards are great because they don't expire and you're not out if you have to miss a week.
Also, unlike other studios, our group classes will be 90 minutes in duration (beginning in March) and include beginner and intermediate levels.
We teach 50 minute private lessons and we also offer mini-privates which are 30 minutes in duration.
We typically don't recommend ballroom dancing for children under the age of 12. That age is not set in stone as it varies on the child's learning ability and level of focus.
We've had students ballroom dance well into their 70s and 80s!
So you're at your favorite country bar and all the couples are dancing to the same song but none of them appear to be doing the same dance! If you ask someone where they learned to 2 step, they will probably tell you they learned in a bar somewhere and thus you end up with many different styles. In our classes we stress the importance of lead/follow so you can go out and dance with anyone.
Now back to the question: We teach Texas-style Two-Step which is the most popular variety. It consists of 2 quick steps and 2 slow steps. We focus primarily on patterns that are progressive in nature and allow you to move around the floor.
Yes! We attend local, regional and National events. Our students compete in both country and ballroom. We are the ONLY area studio that offers competitive country for both male and female students! If you're interesting in competing please contact us and we will be happy to assist!
